Somerford Park, Congleton, Cheshire
Following from the success of last year’s camp, we’ve decided to return to Somerford Park. The facilities are fantastic, the weather was perfect, the majority of attendees also did the farm ride, either to start camp off or finish on a relaxing hack.
Camp caters for all abilities, whether you want to keep all 4 hoofs on the ground with dressage and polework, with a farm ride thrown in, or be out on the amazing cross country course. Attendees were jumping from 50 cm to 110cm +
Our instructors are Sarah Warner, Jon Rogers and Jake Taylor
Camp opens at 1pm on Friday 12th May, and there will be some ridden sessions or Farm rides on Friday afternoon. If you can’t arrive until later in the day, you’ll have 2 sessions on Saturday and Sunday. Camp closes at 4pm on Sunday.
The cost is £250 for SDRC members (£280 for non members). Priority will be given to SDRC members, with entries open to non members from1st January. This will include:
4 x ridden sessions – if you don’t want to jump then you can keep all 4 hoofs on the ground by having dressage (maximum 2), poles and/or farm ride
Stabling, 2 x shavings, meals, snacks and refreshments (doesn’t include alcoholic beverages but you can bring your own 😁🍷)
You need to bring a horse, it’s hay and hard food and something for you to sleep in (caravan/tent/horsebox/trailer),
You can do the Farm Ride as one of your sessions, or you can add a Farm Ride as an extra (£18)
Sarah Warner will do saddle checks for those that want one. She is an Albion approved saddle fitter and can do minor adjustments to flocked saddles (at a small extra cost to cover materials)
Lydia Bretton will bring her weigh bridge and give a talk on Nutrition
And Sarah Ilet will be giving a physio talk – subject yet to be decided, and will be voted on by camp attendees
