Dressage Qualifier at Llanymynech 11th July 2009
General Reminders
Please ensure your club members attending this event are correctly prepared and aware of the rules and that they are responsible for producing a valid passport and flu vaccination applicable and attributable to the Equine entered into the competition. This includes non-qualifying entries as well.
Team Managers / Chef d'Equipe shall be responsible for the conduct and supervision of teams and individuals at Area competitions. All declarations must be made no later than 30 minutes before the start of the competition.
Inform your members that it is compulsory to enjoy them selves and to enter into the spirit of British Riding Clubs - Smiling helps.
Results will be posted as soon as possible but the scorers as well as all the stewards are all volunteers and will do their very best to provide timely and accurate results.
Area Admin
Sadly over the last few qualifiers it has become apparent that some people feel it is appropriate to send in anonymous letters about each other, Officials and the management of events. I am disappointed in this as I have always tried to be approachable and impartial when dealing with objections. All results are scrutinised at Stoneleigh for any eligibility issues as it is too much to expect without sufficient mobile Internet access to check on the day the declaration sheets. If clubs wish this to be done prior to the qualifier then we will have to say that no replacements will be allowed once the declaration date has been set, I would suggest 7 days prior for the larger qualifiers and that entry fees would have to reflect such an administrative addition. I will state for the record I will not act on anonymous information as it would be wholly wrong of me to act on such information given that the author has not got the courage of their convictions to sign their name. If appropriate I can and will if necessary protect their confidentiality but do need them to identify them selves as for all I know it could have been sent with malicious intent. Please see 2009 BRC rule book G14.1/2 & 3. Protests at competitions.
I am sorry to lay the law down but feel it is important that these people know where I stand on this issue. If anyone has any comment on this or any other issues relating to the way I and the rest of the organising committee run the Area events then please feel free to air these through your club area rep so that they can formally be discussed at area committee. In the mean time rest assured that all members are welcome to contact me as ever, but at least tell me who you are!
On a more positive note I am delighted with the overall increase in Area 20 members coming forward to qualifiers. The Horse Trials alone saw an increase of nearly 23% in prelim entries. If this was repeated again next year it would mean 300+ entries. Clearly this would mean that the committee will have to look at a new format for this and possibly other qualifiers.
As your Area 20 BRC National Executive Committee member I have had the privilege of representing you and the area for the last 2 1/2 years but as this is an elected post, quite rightly so, I am coming to the end of my tenure of 3 years and as such the area must choose who will represent them for the next 3 years (Jan 2010 to Dec 2012). Nominations for this post should be made to your Club area 20 rep for an election at the 2009 Area 20 AGM. This will allow for a hand over period between the election and taking up the post in January 2010. Please contact me if you would like an informal chat and job description.
