Shrewsbury does it again!

With all the rain that fell in the preceding 48 hours it was with trepidation that 25 riders, a dozen or so stewards and an assorted collection of helpers set off for Kelsall for the horse trials qualifier on 1st July.

In fact the course held up very well and the club competitors had no problems and put in some very good performances.

By far the best of these was Heather Tate and Tarran who achieved a spectacular 19.1 dressage to which she added only 4 show jumping penalties and two cross country time penalties to win her novice section easily and qualify for the championships at Offchurchbury over the weekend 4th-5th August.

The novice teamswere particularly successful with the "Clive" team of Hayley Jay, Amanda Beddin, Dean Price and Heather Tate being 4th and the "Lord Hill" team of Simone Cooper, Emma Dainty, Trish Bridge and Vicki Cliffe 6th.

Individual successes in Section A,4th Simone and Dylan. In Section B Emma and Dave were 4th and Teresa Jones and Zara 5th In section D 1st Heather and Tarran, 5th Vicki and Farnaby and 6th Phillipa Finnigan and Jordan.

Not to be out done the Intermediate team of Liz Roberts, Emma Johnson, Sonia Wilson and Barbara Stafford-Cairns were 5th and the Open team of Deena Webster, Sarah Williams, Amanda Beddin, this time on Danty and Dean Price on Macho were third.

For several of the combinations this was their first attempt at a One Day Event and there were some rather anxious faces particularly whilst waiting to go on the cross country. All were smiling by the end though, the constant heavy showers not managing to spoil the euphoria of having completed or the now traditional post competition picnic!
