Dressage Dressage lives for expression and the harmony between horse and rider. The goal is not to complete each figure without a mistake; that is just the technical part. The real essence of dressage is not that a movement is correct, but rather the way in which it is executed. - Food for thought indeed!
SDRC always had a positive approach to dressage/ flatwork clinics being a cornerstone of the club's philosophy. Jumpers are encouraged to use flatwork to improve their jumping The club is well represented at the dressage qualifiers often with a high level of success, both teams and individuals qualifying for championships at Lincoln and Addington (freestyle DTM). The club holds regular competitions throughout the year the pinnacle of the club season being the Millennium Challenge with valuable training bursaries at stake. Dressage Websites

SDRC Dressage Competition Sun 20th February 2011
This was the first event of the year and turned out to be a very pleasant, sociable and successful occasion. with at least 16 combinations competing in the 6 classes on offer. Particular thanks must go to Kotti for organising the show - the first she has done! Thanks also to all the volunteers /helpers - without whose efforts no competitions would ever take place.
The stars of the day were Phillipa Finnigan ( winning both novice tests) and Becky Bond who scored over 65% in each of the four tests she attempted. The other outstanding performance was in prelim 7 won by Helen Ratcliffe on Jack with a tasty 68%.
Overall, though , it may seem unfair to single out performances since a glance at the results will show that the overall standard was very high, many combinations scoring well. This promises to be an exciting season and that the dressage points table and the Millenium Challenge 2011 will be eagerly fought over.
