BRC Rule Book 2008.
" As usual, at this time of the year, I would like to ask you to remind all the clubs that all the preliminary entries close on 30th of June. Any requests or entries received after that date will be declined, or returned to sender with an explanatory note apologising. If your clubs contact you and ask you to ring the office to persuade us to accept the entries, we'd be most grateful if you could explain to them that this will not be possible. The reason for the close of entries is so that the office team can turn their attention from processing prelims to actually organising the championships in question. " - Matylda BRC HQ.
Can I also add a reminder to all clubs to check their club members eligibility and flu vaccs in good time before our area 20 qualifiers, please see 2008 rule book if in doubt, or you can ring me to check but not the night before the competition please.
There are a lot of email and text messages going about at the moment in relation to suspicious behaviour by some dubious characters at competitions, yards and fields. Sadly equine and tack theft is developing into to a serious rural crime problem for our area and so please keep reporting to the police your suspicions and sightings, as well as sharing them with us all. You can also report suspicious behaviour confidentially on 0800 555 111 Crimestoppers.
Flu Vac Certificates
Each horse or pony competing in an area qualifier must:
have a valid vaccination certificate which undeniably relates to that horse , completed, signed and stamped on each line by a veterinary surgeon, who is not the owner of the animal.
It must state that:
the horse has had two injections for primary vaccination against equine influenza given no less than 21 days and no more than 92 days apart. ( only these first two injections ned to have been given before the horse may compete).
A first booster must have been given no less than 150 days and no more than 215 days after the second injection of the primary vaccination.
Subsequent booster injections must be given at intervals of not more than 1 year apart commencing after the first booster injection.
None of these injections must have been given within the preceding 7 days of the competition, including the day of the competition or entry into the competition stables.
The vaccination certificate must ,under penalty of elimination, accompany the horse to all official competitions and the competitor is responsible for producing it on demand.
