SHREWSBURY & DISTRICT RIDING CLUB

CLUB RULES

In accordance with the Constitution, the management and administration of Shrewsbury & District Riding Club is the responsibility of the Committee and its decision shall be final and binding on the members. Club Rules may be made or repealed by the Committee and amendments published in the Newsletter.

In furthering the aims and objectives of the Club all aspects of safety are paramount. It is appreciated that much of this is common sense but the following rules must apply:-

1 . Members shall be correctly turned out at all Club events. Hard hats must be up to the current standard specified by British Riding Clubs, correct footwear and long sleeves must be worn at all times

2. Any Club event will only be run with the knowledge and approval of the Committee. Guidelines on running these events are available from the Secretary and risk assessments and full safety procedure must be followed

3. The Organizer of an event has the authority to enforce any reasonable safety measures as appropriate to the circumstances

4. All horses attending Club events must be at least four years old and any particular problems or vices made plain to the group organizer and instructor for safety purposes.

Rallies -Important

Recently and all too frequently members are booking in for rallies and not turning up!!

This has a number of consequences:

  • The program for the evening gets messed up
  • In order to provide value for members rallies are non-profit making, therefore any non attendance unless it is paid for places a financial burden on the club.
  • As rallies are often well subscribed by non attendance you may have prevented another rider from taking part.
  • Organisers spend a considerable amount of their own time trying to set up rallies and accommodate riders wishes and feel unfairly treated when people just don't turn up.

All organisers are only a phone call or email away. A 48 hr prior notice deadline is not unreasonable as this gives us time to organise the evenings schedule and contact those involved in the rally.

The long established rule is give 48 hrs notice or pay up!

Rallies and Clinics

Please remember to book in at least 4 days before the rally or clinic you wish to take part in, instructors need to know how many hours they are teaching. There may be a waiting list on some of the popular rallies so early booking is advisable. It is up to you to then ring the organiser at the time they say for your riding time. Once you have booked in it is assumed that you are coming and are therefore liable to Pay as the instructor and venue will still have to be paid for!
