DATE FOR YOUR DIARY.
Stoneleigh Riding Club Two day Event at Offchurch Bury on 26th/27th May 2012

If you would like to compete and require stabling (hopefully onsite) then please let Helen Ratcliff know ASAP. Stabling needs to be reserved shortly.
The event has been supported by SDRC for the last couple of years and is an excellent well run competition. There are two classes novice (90cms) and intermediate ( 100cms), however BE WARNED that it is a very tough course and you need to comfortably be able to compete at the same BE level to be able to cope with the X/C course. Horses will need to be fit as roads, tracks and steepelchase are also included.
The schedule has not yet been released, but cost is about £50 for two nights stabling and £55 for entry.
This event is open to any rider who does not need to be a member of the BRC.
I will aim to put together a novice team and intermediate team with SDRC members getting priority, however I will be approaching other riding club members who competed last year to help make up teams.

Full payment for stabling will be required shortly, however I usually leave entries to the last minute in case of injuries to riders and horses.

Please contact Helen Ratcliff via FB, email - helen.ratcliff@hotmail.co.uk or 07814375430 to reserve a stable or further information.

Please note that I am away on holiday from the 18th Jan until 13th Feb and will be booking stabling before I leave.

Eventing whose origins lie in competitions between cavalrymen is the ultimate test of allround equestrian ability. General public interest is generated by the TV coverage given to Badminton and Burghley . As with other discplines many riders have used the club as preparation and training for affiliated events.

Apart from the one day event qualifier and championships Riding Clubs hold a Cross Country Challenge qualifier leading to a national championship held at the Festival of the Hunter. This involves jumping a number of show jumps immediately followed by a course cross country jumps.

Although training concentrates on dressage and SJ, X-country clinics take place on an ad Hoc arrangement, usually, though not exclusively, as a preparation for the horse trials and hunter trials qualifiers. Anybody interested in x-country practise should keep an eye on the website and the newsletters for details.

In 2010 a number of successful cross country training sessions were held both indoors at Walford and at Llanymynech suitable for anybody interested in jumping XCountry style fences and improving that aspect of their horsemanship.
